NEW SERVICE TEAM IN MUMBAI
The reconstitution of Jesus Youth Mumbai conducted on 9th-11th March at the
beautiful retreat center Tabor Bhavan near Kalyan. There were around 30
participants. We were blessed with the best of the resources from the National
Team (Thank you Raiju & party). Throughout the days, our dear George chettan,
the Asst. Co-ordinator of Jesus Youth International Team (better known to all
as German George) along with our Music Ministry team helped us to spend
beautiful moments of praise & worship with the LORD. (By the way, George
chettan is very much a Mumbai Jesus Youth now...)
Day I:
Participants reached the Center by evening, spent time in worship and
fellowship.
Day II:
Our veteran Dr. Edward Edezhath (Eddy Chettan) led us through the
training/orientation sessions (on Jesus Youth lifestyle, Christian Leadership,
Need for Service Team etc.) in his typical humorous, interactive &
thought-provoking style. Late in the evening, Fr. Francis Eluvathingal, Mumbai
Jesus Youth Spiritual Director shared about the importance of Church, Parish
life and the need to spend time and witness Jesus in our own parish
communities.
Day III:
Beginning with his inspiring Testimony, Jose Sebastian, the Coordinator of
Bangalore Jesus Youth shared on Youth Evangelization, his conviction on the
Need of Love and Commitment (of prayer, time, money, energy) expected from us
as Jesus Youth leaders, setting aside all the usual excuses. Later, leading us
through a time of intense prayer and worship, Jose & George chettan guided us
through the process of selection of the Service Team members. Each person
wrote the names of 5 persons whom they wanted to be in the Service Team. A
Discernment Team - which consisted of Fr. Francis, Soney Noble chechi (Sr.
Leader & Animator), Joseph Thomas (Better known as Joppen chettan, Sr.
Leader), Binu Asokan (Previous Coordinator) along with Jose Sebastian &
(German) George chettan - prayed and went though the participants' choice,
added their inputs, and finally discerned the list of the new Service Team.
The team was announced by Fr. Francis, which later sat together to elect the
Coordinator, Asst. Coordinator and each ones individual responsibilities.
Jose led a session where every member was given a chance to share their dreams
about Mumbai Jesus Youth. In the conclusion, the Father and the elders laid
hands over each Service Team Member as the who participants were joyfully
praising and thanking the LORD.
